# Start-up Guide: ReXgen Air

### To download the ReXdesk software

#### WARNING:

* CAN Bus and USB are not isolated.
* CAN Bus and USB Isolators can be purchased separately.
* Care must be taken when plugging the USB into the device.&#x20;
* Removing the power supply when the device is connected to a PC via USB is recommended.
* Signal inputs (CAN, analogue or digital) should not exceed ±28 V.
* For stable operation, ensure all sensors and inputs share the same ground as the unit's power supply.
* Please do not use the logger's USB port for stand-alone data logging, as it may damage the port and will not be covered under warranty.
* ReXgen Air is an IP50 device (please ensure it is covered when mounting it in locations that may have water ingress).

### SIM Card Insertion

To insert the SIM card into a ReXgen Air device, open the SIM slot lid correctly and carefully.&#x20;

**Locate the SIM slot:** Open the SIM cover and identify the SIM slot.

**Check orientation:** Hold the SIM card with **gold contacts facing down** and the cut corner aligned with the slot.

**Insert only into the SIM slot:** Slide the SIM card **straight into the slot** until it stops.\
**Warning:** **Do not place the SIM anywhere else:** it may fall inside the logger.

**Close the cover:** Once fully inserted, reattach the SIM cover.

Mishandling the SIM slot lid may damage the device and the SIM card inside.

#### Warning:

* The connector must be tightened securely to ensure correct connection and reliable operation.
* Each end of the CAN bus must be terminated with a 120 Ohm resistor across CAN H & CAN L.
* Do not short-circuit any pins.
* Signal inputs (CAN, analogue or digital) should not exceed ±28 V.
* For stable operation, ensure all sensors and inputs share the same ground as the unit's power supply
* Please do not use the logger's USB port for stand-alone data logging, as it may damage the port and will not be covered under warranty.
* ReXgen Air is an IP50 device (please ensure it is covered when mounting it in locations that may have water ingress).

### To update the firmware

Open ReXdesk, connect the logger and click the ‘Reflash’ option under the Device tab.

**Reflash** – Select the required firmware to update the logger.

#### Warning:

* Do not disconnect the logger until the logger LED stops flashing. The logger will automatically reconnect to the software after reflashing.
* Please ensure that the internal storage is formatted after reflashing the logger.

### LED Indicators

The 4 LEDs on the ReXgen Air indicate CAN/CAN FD logging activity.

### To set the time

Open ReXdesk, connect the logger and click  ‘Set Time’ on the top taskbar.

To synchronise the logger’s time with your PC, select ‘Synchronise with PC.&#x20;

**Or**

To manually set the logger’s time, select ‘Set Custom Date Time’.

Click ‘Set Time” to save.

### To start logging

Open ReXdesk, connect the logger, double-click, or drag and drop the ‘Log All’ icon into the configuration window.

Click the ‘Run’ icon on the top taskbar and save the project.

Once the Configuration is uploaded successfully, click OK.

### To open a data log from internal storage

Click the ‘Internal Storage’ icon on the top taskbar and select the file you wish to open.

Click on the ‘Download’ tab and select the required format for download.

* Always ensure the device is installed, connected, and commissioned by a qualified professional.
* The device must only be repaired by the manufacturer.
